Tips to get that cute animal picture

Posted by Kieran on November - 23 - 2021

We are undoubtedly a nation of animal lovers and love posting pictures of our pets on our social media pages, but have you ever taken countless photos only to find that not one is exactly right? Follow these and you will be snapping away happily from now on.

Firstly, it is important to get your pet used to the camera or phone, so that they are not afraid of it. Taking pictures in daylight without using a flash is essential as the flash will scare many pets.

Having treats on hand to reward good behaviour is a good idea and will help the pet to stay still as it focuses on the treat. Getting down to your pet’s level to get the best angle for your shot means that you may have to lie down on the floor, but hopefully your pet will not see this as a game and leap on top of you.

Try to think about the background to the shot and make it as minimal as possible or use your camera features to blur out the background. A pet with dark fur will usually look better against a lighter background and vice versa.

Finally, have fun when taking your pictures especially when you are on a walk as you may just capture some great photos without really trying.
